Consumers Groan As Prices Of Bread Hit N150 For Smallest Size
Residents of Hadejia in Jigawa have expressed concern over hike in prices of bread, in spite of increasing demand for it in the area. Prices of bread had gone up by about 30 per cent in the past few months.
A medium loaf of bread was sold at N270 as against its old price of N200, while a small size loaf costs N150, as against its previous price of N100.
A cross section of the residents told newsmen that the trend was causing large dents in their pockets. Alhaji Musa Muhammad, said that bread was now beyond the reach of the ordinary man in view of its high cost.
Muhammad said he now spent N500to buy bread on daily basis to meet his domestic needs.

Anambra Youths Beat Catholic Priest To Coma
A tragic incident took place yesterday as Youths of Obubo community in Anambra State attacked a Priest, Rev. Father Fidelis Ifeanyichukwu Ugozo of the St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Ugbenu, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, beating him to a state of coma.
The rampaging youths led by their leader, Gabriel Ikegbunam are said to be Idol worshipers.
According to Anambra Broadcasting Service, (ABS),the priest and some of his followers were carrying out a rosary procession around some of the villages when they were stopped by one of the youth leaders in the village, Gabriel Ikegbunam, who felt the clergy man and his followers were out to burn down their deity.
Mr. Ikegbunem insisted that they will not enter his village, and when they overpowered him, he started making contacts, calling some youths from the village to attack the priest and others who were mainly women and children.
Aero Contractors Airlines Nigeria Suspends Operation
Aero Contractors Airlines, Nigeria’s second largest commercial carrier, has confirmed an exclusive report of The PUNCH by announcing the suspension of its scheduled services beginning from Thursday September 1, 2016.
On Monday, August 22, 2016, The PUNCH exclusively reported that the airline was set to lay off some of its workers due to its worsening financial crisis.
The report also noted that the carrier was in talks with aviation unions on how to cut down on the number of workers in its employ, after sources from the sector revealed that Aero was contemplating a suspension of its scheduled flight services.
Confirming this in a statement signed by the carrier’s management on Wednesday, Aero stated that the suspension was part of the strategic business realignment to reposition the airline and return it to profitability.

Pelvic Inflammatory disease: This is a term for inflammation of the uterus, fallopian tubes and/or ovaries as it may progress and lead to infertility; it is usually caused by bacteria, fungal or parasites, route of spread is usually via sexual intercourse or via post abortal sepsis and intrauterine device insertion. If untreated it could lead to infertility or ectopic pregnancy. Below are ways to prevent PID
>Abstinence /proper human sexual behaviour
>Use of barrier methods such as condoms or
diaphragm
>Avoid vaginal douching
>Good personal hygiene; never wear a panties twice

>Treating partners to prevent reinfection or spread to other people
5. Hypertension: This is also known as high blood pressure and it simply means that the blood pressures in the arteries are elevated and this requires the heart to work harder than normal to circulate blood through the vessels. Blood pressure is summarised by two measures systolic(when the heart contracts) and diastolic( when the cardiac muscles are relaxed).High blood pressure is present
when the pressure is 140/90mmHg and above, this is a major risk factor for stroke, heart failure, myocardial infarction and chronic kidney disease.
This disease can be prevented by the following > Maintain normal body weight for adults; body mass index of 20-25kg/m2
>Reduce dietary salt intake
>Engage in regular aerobic exercise daily
>Limit alcohol consumption

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Tuesday said its planes consumed an average of 1.9 million litres of aviation fuel each month to fight and prosecute insurgency in the North-East. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Sadiq Abubakar, an Air Marshal, made the disclosure at the opening ceremony of the NAF Logistics Seminar held in Lagos.
The seminar was tagged: “Repositioning NAF logistics for Efficient Employment of Air Power in response to Contemporary National Security Imperatives’’. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Defense, Muhammad Dan-Ali, who was represented by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Danjuma Sheni. Also present was the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Maj.-Gen. Isidore Edet; Flag Officers Commanding (FOCs) Western Naval and Logistics Commands, Rear Adm. Fergusson Bobai and Beegroy Ibe-Enwo, respectively. Air Officers Commanding (AOCs) Logistics and Tactical Commands, Air Vice Marshal Sani Ahmed and Air Marshal Muhammad Mohammed, were also present at the ceremony.

ASUU threatens to embark on strike after FG ignores demands
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) through its Lagos Zone Coordinator, Prof. Olusoji Sowande at a news conference in Lagos on Tuesday, threatened to embark on a nationwide strike in regards to its demands for the implementation of its 2009 agreement with the Federal Government.
Sowande said the 2009 FG/ASUU agreement, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on funding of state universities, breaches of the conditions of service and re-negotiation of the agreement, exclusion of Nigerian universities from Pension Management Company and non-release of NEEDS Assessment Intervention Fund were still being ignored.

NFF Reacts To Siasia's Resignation: You’re An Ingrate, We Will Expose You
A top official of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has threatened to expose Samson Siasia, if he continues to castigate the football house.
Siasia, who recently won bronze with Nigeria’s U-23 team at the 2016 Olympics, has said he is “done” working for Nigeria.
The coach revealed he has not been contacted by any staff of the Sports Ministry or Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), since he arrived from the Games.
“My next step is that I am done with Nigeria for now,” Siasia told Vanguard.
“You can’t keep going to a place where they don’t appreciate you. It does not worth it. Sometimes it is not about the money but the approach.

Robber In Ijankin, Lagos Crushed To Death While On Operation
A suspected robber has been crushed to death by a truck at the Ojo Lowo bus stop in the Ijanikin area of Lagos State, while allegedly attacking some bus passengers.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect, whose name had yet to be ascertained, along with other hoodlums, had at about 10.30pm on Friday stood at the bus stop to waylay bus passengers.
