Calvin Harris Regrets His Tweets About Taylor Swift: 'I Snapped'

No more bad blood? Calvin Harris opened up about his split from Taylor Swift in a revealing new interview with British GQ.
"It’s very difficult when something I consider so personal plays out very publicly. The aftermath of the relationship was way more heavily publicized than the relationship itself," Harris, 32, explained to the mag, which honored him at its 2016 Men of the Year Awards. "When we were together, we were very careful for it not to be a media circus. She respected my feelings in that sense."

Us Weekly confirmed in June that Harris and Swift, 26, ended their romance after more than a year of dating — and that the Scottish DJ was the one to pull the plug. Two weeks later, she went public with her relationship with British actor Tom Hiddleston.
"For both of us, it was the wrong situation," Harris told the mag. "It clearly wasn’t right, so it ended…"
The split was amicable at first — Harris tweeted that they still had a "huge amount of love and respect" for each other — but things eventually turned sour. Back in July, Harris went off on the pop star after it was revealed that she wrote the lyrics and melody to his summer smash hit "This Is What You Came For," which featuresRihanna.

"I wrote the music, produced the song, arranged it and cut the vocals though. And initially she wanted it kept secret, hence the pseudonym. Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though," he tweeted at the time. "I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do."
He also brought up Swift's longtime feud with Katy Perry. "I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy [Perry] ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it," he continued. "Please focus on the positive aspects of YOUR life because you’ve earned a great one. God bless everyone have a beautiful day."

Looking back, Harris regrets saying anything about his ex. "It was completely the wrong instinct. I was protecting what I see as my one talent in the world being belittled," he told GQ. “It felt like things were piling on top of me, and that was when I snapped. I’m not good at being a celebrity, but when it ended, all hell broke loose. Now I see that Twitter thing as a result of me succumbing to pressure. It took me a minute to realize that none of that matters. I’m a positive guy."
Harris' GQ remarks were published just one day after Us Weekly exclusively confirmed that Swift ended her three-month relationship with Hiddleston, 35.
